Aaron Cook
Aaron Cook is the founder and principal of CoveMark. Aaron’s investment career began with the purchase of his first investment property in 2001. Since his 2006 relocation to Texas, from his home state of Florida, Aaron has been involved in numerous private investments, totaling more than $60 million. Over the past nine years, he has served in various capacities across multiple private investment projects, including sponsor, development consultant, investor relations, and fund manager. From 2009 to 2012, Aaron was involved with Diversified Metroplex Investors (“DMI”) where he worked on several real estate projects and served on DMI’s Board of Directors.

In 2012, Aaron left DMI to found CoveMark, launching the firm’s flagship fund the same year. Since inception, CoveMark has launched 18 Funds, across various industries, including energy, real estate, livestock, and unique eateries. Aaron also has significant experience with direct participation programs and private placements.

Aaron studied economics and finance at the University of West Florida. He and his wife reside in Dallas, Texas, where they are actively involved in their church and community.
Jacob Avery
  • Director of Valuations
Jacob Avery has a diverse background with leadership experience in multiple industries including Technology, Oil and Gas, and Private Equity. Jacob has an earned reputation for delivering exceptional results, and supports CoveMark on competing institutional level valuations, deal structuring, and with strategic analysis. He brings his experience building businesses, deconstructing investment opportunities, and analyzing risk to help CoveMark’s investors achieve the best risk-adjusted return on their investments.

Jacob has worked with organizations of various size and scale, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small tech startups. He has a deep analytical background, with experience in artificial intelligence, financial risk modeling, and detailed modeling private enterprise transactions.

While at Quorum, he developed new automated solutions using cognitive AI approaches and cutting-edge machine learning technology and during his tenure at Remine, he was employee #1 for startup that delivered the first property intelligence platform for the real estate sector which provided next-gen decision support tools that help agents and investors capitalize on opportunities in hundreds of markets across the United states.

Jacob holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed his post-graduate studies in Astronautical Engineering with a focus on Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Lance Bina
Lance Bina has nearly 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to becoming a CoveMark strategic partner, Lance was a senior account manager with Baker-Hughes Oil Field Services which provided him many opportunities to gain unique knowledge and experience focused on oil field operations.

Lance holds a Masters in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Oklahoma State University (2008) and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Lubbock Christian University (2006). Lance is married to his college sweetheart, whom he met while playing baseball for Dallas Baptist University. They are the proud parents of two children, a son and a daughter, and reside in Dallas where he is actively involved in his church and community.
Melissa Bloys
  • Director of Accounting
Melissa Bloys joined CoveMark as a Director of Accounting in 2019. Melissa will primarily lead the accounting efforts for one of the portfolio companies, Capra Foods. She will also manage the overall financial analytics for the entire CoveMark portfolio of investments.

Melissa has a deep knowledge of enterprise risk, financial analysis, and financial and operational audits. For the past 11 years, Melissa has worked in the Audit Services Department for Tenet Health, serving as a Director on the team for the past 5 years. Prior to that, she was an Audit Senior at Rylander, Clay & Opitz.  She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas and earned her B.B.A. and M.S. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Melissa is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs (TSCPA). She and her husband enjoy raising their two young children while being very active in their community where she serves on the Advisory Board for twenty8|twenty7 and is also a Kids Ministry teacher at Cornerstone Church.
Leigh Ann Garber
  • Director of Accounting
Leigh Ann Garber has over 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, and audit, starting her career by working for Arthur Andersen and KPMG. Leigh Ann also worked with the internal audit groups at Triad Hospitals and Tenet Healthcare for almost a decade. Leigh Ann held the role of Director of Operations & Finance for Tenet Practice Resources, overseeing the finance functions for Tenet-owned physician practices in Texas, Tennessee, and Missouri. Her responsibilities included month-end close processes, monthly account reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and managing a staff of 15 accountants. Most recently Leigh Ann worked with her husband in their bookkeeping business Garber2 Partners. Leigh Ann is a Certified Internal Auditor and a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a degree in Accounting. She resides in Plano, Texas with her husband and young son.
Zach Hagan
Zach Hagan has more than eight years of diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Zach is responsible for CoveMark’s back office operations. He is also involved in the selection and management of CoveMark’s investment portfolio. He performs due diligence and participates in the evaluation of potential investment opportunities. He leads asset management for multiple CoveMark funds, including those focused on agriculture, energy, or technology.

His expertise includes acquisitions and divestitures, information systems technology, petroleum land management, livestock management, and other agriculture-related fields for CoveMark. Zach’s background is comprised of development, implementation, and maintenance of databases; information technology infrastructure; and multi-language computer coding; administrative support for company directors; and management of oil and gas projects in major exploration plays throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, North Dakota, and Wyoming.

Zach grew up in rural Oklahoma, where ranching and farming were a part of everyday life. From an early age, he was involved in a variety of agriculture-related matters and was a longtime participant in 4-H and his high school education included specialized studies in agriculture and zoology. Zach went on to study economics, finance, and computer programming at the University of Oklahoma. He resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Robin M. Olsen
  • Investor Relations
Robin Olsen joined the Investor Relations Team in 2019, bringing with her over 20 years experience in corporate communications and investor relations in a variety of industries including energy, airline, manufacturing, learning and technology.

She is President & Founder of Honey Communications, a public relations and communications firm based in Colorado. Previously, she served as Head of Communications for a remote learning company, after serving as Senior Manager of Public Relations at Anadarko Petroleum. Robin is known for her adventures with her husband and two children in Vail, CO, where she loves to ski, hike, ski and be in the great outdoors
Stephanie Randolph
  • Head of Office Operations
Stephanie is a dynamic leader who thrives to do everything with excellence. She has 10+ years of experience in business management including running a restaurant where she learned many roles from the ground up at a very early age. She excels at customer service, communications and organization. Her skills and experience have enabled her to excel in her work career as well as in her personal goals and life. She also has five years of property management where she held leadership roles and real estate experience where she interacted with investors, owners, clients, and tenants. She obtained her Florida Real Estate license in 2013 while doing property management, but soon came to realize she enjoyed more of the day-to-day management side of the business. Stephanie has a keen focus and is adept at juggling multiple projects simultaneously. In her free time she loves to spend time with her son. She is very involved in her local church and loves to serve her community whenever possible.
David Thompson
David Thompson has extensive experience in real estate investing, in both domestic and international projects, covering single-family, multi-family, and land development. He spent over 20 years in high-tech management positions at Dell, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies (“Lucent”). At Lucent, he managed a $2.5B investment portfolio and raised over $1B in funds for acquisitions. After leaving the corporate world, David started Thompson Investing and has raised significant private equity capital. He helped provide investor funds to Ashcroft Capital for the purchase of more than 1,750 apartment units, in seven separate communities, worth over $160M. David has also helped raise capital for a $50M CoveMark-sponsored fund focused on self-storage and mobile home parks. ​

David holds an MBA in Finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, both from Arizona State University. David prides himself on building long-term relationships with investors and partners while providing a great customer experience. He has lived in Austin, Texas for twenty years with his wife and has two daughters.
Ragan Young
Ragan Young CFP®, is the founder and managing member of Oakwood Advisory Group (“Oakwood”). Ragan has more than 15 years of experience in advising individuals and families on investment matters. In addition to serving as a Strategic Partner at CoveMark, his background includes managing client relationships, developing risk-based asset allocation models, researching and advising on both public and private investments, and estate and income tax planning. Over the course of his career, Ragan has worked with a variety of clients, ranging from those with a negative net worth to families with over $80 million.

Ragan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from West Texas A&M University. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ and holds his Group 1 Insurance license in the state of Texas. Ragan resides in the Dallas area with his wife and two sons.
